Dubai II. - the last (aug. 28-sept 1.)

Who read my very first post, maybe can remember why I wanted to visit Dubai originally - even if I was not interested in the town itself - : for Franco Dragone's La perle show. (On my way back, it was my intention to pick up my "pillow" which I left there, but in the meantime, someone else took it back to Hungary, so no more worries because of this.)

So the last stop of my travelling was Dubai (just as my first). I was almost penniless, with strong negative vibes in me when I arrived - but at least at the middle-of-the-city airport.
The hostel was in a high-rise, in the first-floor's apartments. For about 5 euros, they offered a very delicious self-serviced, western style, whole breakfast, which totally made my day.

My original plan was like this for the 4 day: doingnothing-doingnothing-La Perle-doingnothing. The only thing I was really waited for to hang out with Charlotte, my friend I've met in Korea :).
So on the first day we went to the cinema, was watching some young-adult-fantasy-romance, because we did not get tickets for the Crazy rich asians - just to recall our memories :D. But next day, we watched that one, too :)
In the cinema, you can buy EVERY kind of snacks, like cheese or caramel popcorn (freshly made), hot dog, beer, they are serving the pretzel hot...

Aztán harmadnap elmentem Abu Dhabiba megnézni a Sheikh Zayed mecsetet.
On the third day, I visited the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi. The transportation was a little sucks, because even though the bus to AD was cheap, it stopped really far from the mosque, so I needed to take a cab which was expensive. But no entrance or abaya-rental fee, and they did not let me go farther than the 'hall', the sight was still stunning.

And at night: La Perle. Finally. I expected something more circus-ish, it was totally an eye-catching show - "a huge, living installation", with a lot of water - which can start to fall from anywhere -, with a little less artises, it it was worth to watch it.

A 'hűha' faktor a kb 5 m átmérőjű gömbben kerengő 5 motorosnál hágott a tetőfokára, főleg amikor alul ki is nyílt...
The wow-factor reached it's highest when 5 motorcyclist was riding inside a 5m diameter, hanging ball, and it opened...

(Getting there was a little challenging - just to be true to Dubai - because the venue was between 2 metro stations but no pedestrian walkway because of a motorway and a bay/canal. So I took an Uber, which is really efficient in Dubai, and most importantly: cheaper than the taxi.)

On my last, I did not plan anything, as usual :D just to get in time to the 'far-as-fck' airport...but my hostel-mates convinced me to visit the local chinese mall. They planned to drop me on our way back somewhere I can catch a bus to the airport, but in the end, they took me to the airport, what was 60km away from the city. So far, I belived, that airport Al Maktoum is worse than the International, that's why it's farther, but turned out, it's newer, fancier and still half-done, not all the terminals are working, and it's gonna be huge. So the low-budget Wizzair is almost the only airline organising flights there.

Thanks, Mohammed, Jose <3 :)
Sajnos a magyar mentalitás a távolban töltött 3 hónap alatt mitsem változott, mindenki ugyanúgy elégedetlenkedett, úgyhogy a jól bevált módszer szerint külföldinek tettettem magam és elmélyültem a zenémben, miközben sirattam el ezt a fantasztikus 3 hónapot.
The hungarian virtue did not change till I was away, everyone was complaining about everything, so I used my little 'trick' to pretend being not hungarian while mourning my awesome 3 months, with music in my ears.

Bohol (part II.)

I'm still owing with my traveling's last part, which I did not post because my homecoming was a surprise, and later I forgot it, or no strength to write, etc. etc......

So after Tonga, I went back to the Philippines. I barely had enough money to live, but it was enough for some weeks at there. I had no intention to risk anything or explore, I just wanted to rest, recharge, and Panglao and Alona Hammocks were perfect for these.

So yes. I actually did nothing. Just went with the flow, cruised a lot with the hostel community, on a low budget.
We went to a small island, for free, no shipping or entrance fee, and not filled with tourist :)

During the 2 weeks I spent there, I went to 2 beach clean-ups. Once was in a mangrove, which was a little harder than I expected, but it was a great experience. After it, the locals prepared traditional Philippino lunch, expressing their gratitude.

Fortunatelly, I was able to afford myself to visit 2 waterfalls, 2 caves and a rice-field too :)

I spent a week in a coconut farm-hostel, so I had a chance to live a little 'locally'. They took me to the brook for bathing and washing with the locals, and I traveled a lot with crowded jeepneys.

One of my favourite moments was when I heard hungarian for the first time in two months: my two hungarian friends visited me for an afternoon. Thanks, guys! <3

I would like to thank Alona Hammocks and Batuan Hammocks, René, Salvador, their family and Nathan  for their hospitality and help <3 Nik for the good company and doughnuts :D Nadin for the lot of laughter <3 Adrian for the good memories :)  Jam, Andrew, Patrick and Vence for the Plastic Free Bohol and the beach clean-ups :) and thanks for MariaJaynifer and Niz for their awesome company on my last night! :)
Love and miss you guys! :)

Living/Leaving Tonga

So I disappeared again, I did not have any proper devices to write as long and complete as I wished, so now I'm going to try to complete at least the Tongan part of my blog. This probably going to be the last and maybe the longest post about my beloved Tonga.
I already posted a map about the whereabouts of the country and wrote posts about my everyday life there, but I only got to know the Real Tonga after I left the awesome resort where I worked.
Some information about the country: 748 square meters of land, 700.000 square meters in total, around 170 islands, 36 inhabited, the population is around 100.000. Methodists, Mormons, Catholics. Every Sunday is free, no shops are open, no public transportation (no flights, no ferries), etc. and this is the time when the family gathers together, eating traditional food (Lu).
My first real meeting with the Polynesian culture (not counting the animation Moana/Vaiana) was in New-Zealand: I went into the Auckland Museum, which presented the Māori culture: traditional houses, boats (waka-s), dresses, accessories, weapons, everything. And from a sudden idea, I decided to watch (and pay for) a traditional performance: dance, singing. I watched it with open-mouthed.

S miután 3 hétig élhettem a 'Moana-életet' (kis mosogatással megbolondítva) a tongai álom-szigeten, bálnákkal, fantasztikus emberekkel körülvéve (Ha'apai, Uoleva, Sea Change Eco Retreat <3 )
And after 3 months of living the 'Moana-life' (spiced with a little dish-washing) on the tongan dream-island, with whales, surrounded by fantastic people (at Ha'apai, Uoleva, Sea Change Eco Retreat <3)

Csak egy kis nasi. Just some snack.

Minden péntek 'Tongai péntek', tongai tánccal, étellel (hal, malac). Every Friday 'is Tongan Friday' with traditional tongan dance and food (fish, pig).

úgy döntöttem, elég a lustálkodásból, kicsit szívesen megnézném milyen is az igazi tongai élet, így  áthajóztam Vava'u-ra.

I decided, enough of the laziness, I would like to see the Real Tongan life, so I sailed to Vava'u.

Even if I tried to protest, I lived with my dear colleague's and friend's family for a week. They took me into their family, we went hiking together, fed me, and I cannot really express my gratitude and my love for them. I really enjoyed and loved that week.
Random banana anytime, anywhere.

 Kirándulás tongai családommal.
Hiking with my family.

Katolikus misére menet, kölcsön tradicionális csinos ruhában.
Going to Catholic mass, in traditional dress.

 Vasárnapi családi ebéd.
Sunday family lunch.

Utolsó estémen megsütöttek nekem egy malacot. Nem tudok elég hálás lenni a szeretetükért.
For my last night, they roasted a pig for me. I cannot be grateful enough for them.

I was crying when I left the country... I miss my friends, my family, the fresh banana and coconut, I even miss the fish.... I miss their kindness, their music, their dance, the sand under my feet, the nights with bonfire and dancing at the beach, I miss the whales, what were all over in the country.
But I took a little part with me, at least, which will remind me of everything, forever.
